Foundation repair permits in Allen and nearby

What each city publishes about permits, contractor registration and engineers.

Allen

Allen publishes a list of residential work that doesn't need a permit: things like small decks, small detached sheds, window awnings and replacement windows and doors. Foundation work isn't on it. The city's June 2026 contractor registration form lists "Foundation" among the contractor types that register with the city, alongside general contractors, plumbers and roofers.

What we couldn't find is an Allen checklist written for foundation repair. The city's July 2026 guide to permit submittals covers new homes, additions and remodels, and its plan review guideline for new homes requires foundation drawings stamped by a Texas professional engineer, with an engineering letter for post-tensioned slabs. Those rules are written for new construction. Ask Building and Permitting at 214-509-4130 what your repair needs. Applications go through the city's Citizen Self Service portal.

Lucas

Lucas's building FAQ says new construction needs a permit, and that foundations on new homes must pass pre-pour inspections by the city and by the builder's foundation engineer. Contractor registration is good for one year. We didn't find a Lucas rule specific to foundation repair.

Parker

Parker's remodel and addition permit application asks for foundation plans by a registered professional engineer, says the engineer-sealed foundation plans must be on site, and requires every contractor to register with the city. That form covers remodels and additions, and we didn't find one for repairs. City office: 972-442-6811.

Lavon

Lavon says all types of residential construction need permits and gives a list that isn't meant to be complete. General and building contractors must register before getting any permit, and registration lasts one year. The list doesn't mention foundation repair either way, so ask the city at 972-843-4220.

Three questions for any contractor

  1. Are you registered with my city, and will you pull the permit?
  2. Who designed the repair, and can I have the engineer's letter?
  3. Will the permit number be on my paperwork?

This is a summary, not legal advice. Each city is the final word on what its permits require.
